Our Mission

To empower small local vendors in Indonesia's wet markets, promote health and nutrition and reduce food waste across the supply chain

01

Food waste

Our mission is to tackle the pervasive issue of food waste head-on through our revolutionary solution, GreenStem. Driven by the alarming statistics that reveal Indonesians lose or waste an average of 115-184 kilograms of food per capita per year, we are committed to reshaping the future of food preservation. In a nation facing financial strains and environmental challenges due to excessive food waste, GreenStem stands as a beacon of change. By extending the shelf life of vegetables without the reliance on expensive refrigeration, we aim to significantly reduce the staggering statistics surrounding food waste in Indonesia.  Through innovative solutions like GreenStem, we envision a future where food waste is minimized.

02

Empowering Local Vendors

Another of our primary missions is to empower local vegetable vendors facing the challenge of limited access to refrigeration due to financial strains. Recognizing that vegetables often succumb to spoilage within two days, we are dedicated to providing innovative solutions that transform the landscape for these vendors. Our goal is to offer affordable, cost-effective, and sustainable preservation methods, ensuring that local vendors can extend the shelf life of their produce and minimize losses. Through GreenStem, we aim to uplift these vendors, fostering a resilient and thriving local economy. We believe in a future where every local vegetable vendor can flourish, unburdened by the limitations of short shelf lives, and where communities benefit from fresh, quality produce.

03

Health and Nutrition

With GreenStem, we aim to unlock the full nutritional potential of harvested vegetables, ensuring that every inch of their high nutritional values reaches people's tables. Recognizing that the loss of nutritional content from food waste can fulfill almost 100 percent of the nutritional needs of malnourished individuals in Indonesia, we are steadfast in delivering innovative preservation solutions. By extending the shelf life of vegetables, our goal is not only to curb food waste but also to significantly enhance community health. Through accessible and eco-friendly preservation methods, our vision is to make a positive impact by increasing access to fresh and highly nutritious vegetables, tackling malnutrition, and fostering healthier, more resilient communities across the nation.

The Future.

Over the next few months leading up to summer 2024, our focus is set on producing the inaugural batch of GreenStem, comprising 200 antioxidant sprays. To achieve this milestone, we're initiating fundraising efforts through donations and widespread awareness campaigns tailored for the Indonesian general audience. The funds raised will be strategically allocated to the entire product lifecycle, encompassing manufacturing, distribution, marketing, and sales. Through this concerted effort, we aspire not only to bring GreenStem to market but also to generate revenue that will be reinvested back into the ongoing development and production phases. Our vision is to establish a self-sustaining cycle of growth, ensuring the longevity and impact of GreenStem as we work towards fostering healthier, more resilient communities in Indonesia and beyond.

Untapped opportunity lies in the cocoa supply chain

Chocolate waste from the consumer and retail sector is not the only major contributor to food waste. In fact, significant waste stems from the manufacturing and farming sectors. Cocoa shells, leaves, and other residues from cocoa crops are ultimately treated as waste and can cause significant environmental implications, namely, the pollution of water sources, and soil degradation.

However, within this problem lies a hidden gem of potential. Indeed, studies find that phenolic compounds are abundantly found in these wastes, providing a rich source of antioxidants. Thus, we plan to recycle and utilize these compounds into our product in order to create a more sustainable and efficient cycle that benefits both the environment and our product line.
